As we {attempt to} slow down during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, we are reminded of the blessing of our family. Invite your kiddos to reflect on the love and support they get from family members with this adorable activity and bulletin board idea from Kathleen of Growing Kinders.

Presents

Provide your students with a piece of red or green construction paper. Invite them to fold it in half and decorate the front to look like a present, using scraps of ribbon and construction paper as well as other craft materials/embellishments - glitter glue pens, art tissue paper, craft poms, etc.

Inside the present, have students draw a picture of their family and pen or paste the caption, "This is my family. They fill my heart with love."

Family Matters Most Christmas Bulletin Board

  • Background: Black bulletin board paper.
  • Title: "Gifts and presents can make us boast, but family is what matters most!"
  • Border: Add a solid red wavy trimmer around the board, adding poinsettia flowers made from red and yellow construction paper for some visual interest.
  • Decoration: Use your kiddos' present crafts!
