Fox in Socks
Fox in Socks is so much fun and, if you decide to add this book of tongue tanglers into your celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday or lessons for Read Across America, here are some great exercises you might consider including!
Art Connection. Combine early reading skills and a fun craft with this Seuss-tacular art center activity created by Erica of Erica Bohrer's First Grade! [NOTE: We found this activity via Classroom Freebies.] As they follow the directions, your kiddos will think they're simply creating a quirky craft, when in reality, they'll be working with rhyming words, color words, and even positional words!
Sock Matching. We found several awesome sock matching game ideas around the web! Whether you invite your kiddos to find matching pairs based on color/pattern like the activity from Bern over at Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas or have them find pairs of rhyming words like Mel of Seusstastic Classroom Inspirations did, we know your kiddos will have a blast!
Words with an "X" Sound. Help your kiddos practice identifying the "X" sound with this adorable picture sort craftivity from Izzie, Mac and Me! With FREE templates for creating the fox, your preschoolers are sure to enjoy decorating funky socks, assembling their fox, and sorting/pasting picture cards on the box, er, craft!
Fox in Socks Printable Unit. Homeschool Share is at it again with a FREE printable unit that goes along with this fun Seuss-favorite! With a printable sock matching game - where students match themed vocabulary words with their picture - as well as language arts and life skill application activities, you're sure to find some great learning exercises to compliment your lessons!
We hope you found these learning exercises and resources helpful! Be sure to follow the links to check out the full activity posts!
