Here's another fantastic back to school display from second grade teacher, Heather Beauchamp! With the abundance of color, cutesy word play, and 'sweet' theme, this design would be perfect for any early childhood classroom!
Wel"Gum" Bulletin Board
- Background: Since Heather created a hallway wall display she didn't need any background paper. If you decide to decorate a bulletin board, consider using a light colored background paper {light blue, white, etc}.
- Title: "Wel'Gum' to ______________ [Second Grade, Mrs. Beauchamp's Class, etc.]!" or, for a more generic display, "Wel'Gum" Back to School!" - We love how Heather made the "Gum" in Wel"Gum" distinctive, cutting the letters from colorful/marbled paper!
- Border: Again, the wall display did not need a border, but if using a traditional board, you might consider adding a solid complimentary color trimmer.
- Decoration: 1) The Gumball Machine. Freehand or find an image online to enlarge and trace using your classroom projector system. Create the base and top from red background paper and the "glass" orb from white bulletin board paper. Use a black permanent marker to trace the shape and add detailing to the cutout. 2) The Gumballs. Trace and cut circles from various colors of construction paper, scripting a student's name onto each and mounting them to the "orb".
Supplies for this bulletin board...

We Are Going To Have A 'BALL' This School Year!
UPDATE {July 28, 2011}:
While we were perusing some of our favorite teacher blogs, we stumbled across this awesome gumball back-to-school bulletin board designed by Kacey, teacher and creator of the classroom/teaching blog, Doodle Bugs Teaching...

Things we love... the sparkly handle {we adore glitter too, Kacey!}, the quirky lettering, and the fun title alternative! Not to mention the yellow and purple background/border combo make a great pairing! What a fantastic way to wel-'gum' your kiddos back to school :)
