The More You Read, The More You Know! - Spring Classroom Display
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
Perfect for spring and reading month, this vibrant display created by a junior high school library technician and shared on Flickr would look fabulous in your classroom library, along the windowsill, or might even be tweaked to fit on a classroom bulletin board! There are so many possibilities - we just love the poem's message and the fabulous mix of colors!
The More You Read The More You Know
- Background: Light colored bulletin board paper.
- Title: "The More You Read The More You Know!"
- Border: Complimentary solid color border.
- Decoration: 1) The Flower Pots. Create colorful flower pot cutouts from construction paper. Draw them freehand or use a template (like the one below) to trace and cut the shapes. Arrange the flower pots across the bulletin board, varying the heights slightly to give more visual interest. 2) The Flowers. The original creator used silk windmill flowers - which would create a fun 3D effect - but if you don't have any, you can also create colorful flower cutouts using paper and a few art supplies. As with the flower pots, we suggest either drawing the shapes onto card stock or finding a template online (there are a plethora of them!) to print directly onto the paper or trace and cut. Finally, create stems from green construction paper, adding leaves made from art tissue paper on the stems/in the pot and perhaps some smaller flower cutouts to create fuller flower pots.

UPDATE {March 27, 2012}:
Bonnie Smith submitted a photo of her bulletin board that was inspired by this display. We love the pinwheel flowers and the addition of the colorful book covers! Thanks again for sending us your design. It looks great!
