Miami Lakes K-8 Center is gearing up for the fall/Halloween season and library media specialist, Ibis Mendoza, with the help of Erica Nunez, parent volunteer and designer over at DigiGirl Paper Crafts, have been busy making the library a festive place to visit and learn! We love this bulletin board the duo made to recognize the various students who help out with the morning announcements. Created with a Hollywood theme in mind, Ibis and Erica had their student "production" teams pose with the news desk and microphones, added student names to the tops of the images, then nestled the photos in among colorful television/movie production related cutouts. The result is simple, but super fun!

While the original board was created for a school library, we're certain the design will transfer to the classroom too! Use it to introduce your new class. Create a 'Cast and Crew' themed helpers board. Introduce the teachers/producers on the floor. We're certain you'll be able to find a spot for it!

Meet the New Crew!

• Background: Black or gray bulletin board paper.
• Title: "Meet the New Crew!"
• Border: Movie themed trimmer.
• Decoration: We love the simplicity of Ibis and Erica's cutouts. Most of the cutouts are in black, white, or red and the director's clapboard is a solid color. It looks like decorating team used a die cut or personal cutting machine to create the elements. To get a similar look, you could create your cutouts using clip art images found online, printed onto card stock, and cut out, or by purchasing a simple movie themed bulletin board set.
