"Teaching & Learning!" Planes Inspired Back-to-School Bulletin Board Idea

Disney's Planes Bulletin Board Idea

One of our talented Facebook followers recently shared this bulletin board design with us and we thought it would make a fabulous addition to any early childhood learning space! With its popular theme and fun colors, it's sure to be a hit!

Teaching & Learning!

  • Background: Cover the entire board with bright blue bulletin board paper, cutting and scrunching a strip of green background paper to create "grass" along the bottom of the board.
  • Title: "Teaching & Learning!" - How fun is the title, designed to look like the Planes movie logo?! If, like the original design, the board is for a common area or hallway, you might consider adding the school year and school name to the logo. If the design is for the classroom, the logo could be changed to include the teacher's last name and the grade level or class name - i.e. "Murphy's Kindergartners", "Mooney's Magnificent Co-Pilots", etc.
  • Border: Cloud trimmer or complimentary colored/patterned border.
  • Decoration: 1) Dusty Crophopper. To create the popular character from Planes, we recommend finding a clip art image online, using your classroom projector system to trace the image onto background paper, then cutting out the pieces/detailing and assemble. [NOTE: You could also draw the shape/detailing onto white bulletin board paper then use craft paint to color it in.] 2) The Helicopters/Planes. Create a helicopter/plane cutout for each of your students or, if designing the board for a common area, create an accent for each class - i.e. "Mrs. Mooney's Kindergarten", "Mrs. Jackson's Third Grade", etc. Creative Teaching Press makes cute 'stick kids' airplane accents if you're looking to purchase the cutouts. Otherwise, you might consider simply finding a coloring page to print onto colored paper, cute clip art planes that can be printed onto white card stock, or creating simple accents using a personal cutting machine/die cut machine.
