If you're still on the hunt for a new back-to-school theme, the Olympic games offer a great option for the upcoming school year! Character. Determination. Hard work. Diversity. There are so many ways to parallel the values of Olympic athletes, as well as the symbolism of the games themselves, with the attitudes and actions needed to create a learning environment where all students can be successful.

This simple, yet fun Olympic themed welcome board submitted by Erica Nunez, designer over at DigiGirl Paper Crafts, and the decorating crew of Miami Lakes K-8 is a fantastic way to remind your new kiddos to give it their all in the coming school year!

Go For The Gold!

  • Background: Yellow bulletin board paper.
  • Title: This Year Go For The Gold!
  • Border: Use magazine photos of Olympic athletes, adding a red sparkle trimmer where needed.
  • Decoration: Use glitter scrapbook paper in blue, yellow, black, green, and red to create the Olympic rings. Display them in the middle of the bulletin board, adding the school year below, and filling the rest of the space with other Olympic themed cutouts - images of the athletes in action, glitter star accents, or even custom cutouts displaying important character traits/values (e.g. sportsmanship, determination, motivation, fairness, etc). [NOTE: If creating this for the classroom, you could also print each of your students' names onto a star cutout to arrange around the board!]
