Our Students Shine Bright - Summer Bulletin Board Idea
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
Ms. Karen and Ms. Mandy, teachers at McKinley Early Childhood Center, created this colorful bulletin board to reflect the vibrance of the summer season, as well as the students in their classroom.
Shining Bright Bulletin Board
- Background: Light blue bulletin board paper.
- Title: "Our Students Shine Bright!", "_____________ [Mrs. Nelson's Class, Room 203, etc.] Shines Bright!", "____________ [Mrs. Nelson's Class, Room 203, etc.] is Full of Bright Students!", etc.
- Border: Ms. Karen and Ms. Mandy created their own border using a repeating pattern of colorful construction paper circle cutouts. You could also use a complimentary solid color trimmer or summer themed border.
- Decoration: 1) The Sun. Cut a large circle cutout from yellow bulletin board paper. [Optional: Use markers to draw a face on the circle.] Measure and cut narrow/'skinny' rectangles from the yellow background paper, using markers to script students' names onto them. Mount the circle to the middle of the board, arranging the name "rays" around it. 2) The Extras. Cut cloud shapes from white construction paper, adding these around the board, and create bird cutouts by drawing a template and using it to trace more cutouts onto construction paper in assorted colors, or finding a black and white clip art image online to print directly onto the colored paper.
We love the homemade border in this design. Do you ever create your own bulletin board backgrounds, borders, etc? We'd love to hear about them so be sure to leave us a comment below or find us on Facebook!
