Pinterest has become an amazing resource for DIY projects, kids crafts, and more! We recently stumbled upon this gorgeous unity sand craft from Pavestone Colored Sand Store that would make a great addition to your lesson plans this Martin Luther King Jr Day! Like the peace dove we featured yesterday, this project is sure to build a sense of community among your students, provide a great opportunity for discussing important topics surrounding MLK Day {diversity, unity, harmony, etc.}, and create an instant keepsake for the classroom!

We love the idea of creating a class unity sand bottle, but we also think it would be fun to provide each of your students with a small unity sand keepsake to take home too! Set out a large recycled plastic bottle along with a small container for each student {perhaps recycled baby food jars, spice bottles, or inexpensive clear containers purchased at the dollar store} and invite your kiddos to make their rounds, adding a bit of sand to each container!

For the full project, be sure to visit Pavestone Colored Sand Store!
