Nautical Themed Interactive Math Bulletin Board Idea

Submitted to us by one of our Facebook fans, this awesome interactive math bulletin board works perfectly, not only in a nautical themed classroom, but in any elementary/middle school setting! While originally designed as a way to help students practice multiplication and division, we love that, because of its simplicity, it can be tailored to fit lots of different learning goals!

Math Adventures!

  • Background: Cover the entire board with white bulletin board paper. Cut a strip of blue background paper, using scissors to scallop the top edge, and arrange it along the bottom edge of the bulletin board to create the 'ocean/waves'.
  • Title: "Math Adventures!
  • Border: Ocean themed trimmer or complimentary colored/patterned bulletin board border.
  • Decoration: Linda used Mardel's "Ready, Set, Sail" bulletin board set to create this design. Whether you purchase a similar set or find clip art online that can be used to create your own, you'll need the following elements to recreate the design - a large ship on which to write the learning goal, mini ship accents on which to write specific problems, and to fill any blank space, other nautical themed accents like a compass, a ship's wheel, etc.
