Are All Sugars The Same?

By Kayla • April 3, 2018

Middle School Chemistry Science Fair Project

Ever wonder if table sugar is the same as sugars found in honey, fruits, etc? For middle school students who are interested in chemistry, this science fair project  from Michael Calhoun of Education.com that compares various forms of sugar is sure to be a hit!

To provide a foundation for the experiment, consider a more in-depth look at the following terms...

  • Carbohydrate
  • Sucrose
  • Fructose
  • Monosaccharides
  • Disaccharides

What's great about this experiment is that you won't need a bunch of specialty equipment in order complete it. Test tubes and reagent tablets for urine sugar testing are the only two things you may not have on hand or readily available!
