November is "Good Nutrition Month" and to bring awareness to the importance of a diet and exercise for strong, healthy bodies, consider adding this fun design to your fall repertoire. Created by physical education teacher, Chad Gurzick, we think this colorful board is a great way to remind your kiddos to eat a variety of healthy {colorful!} foods - this fall and throughout the year!

What Color Is Your Diet

  • Background: Black bulletin board paper.
  • Title: "What Color Is Your Diet?...Eat Right, Exercise, Have FUN!"
  • Border: Food pyramid trimmer.
  • Decoration: First, create a tree cutout {trunk and branches} from brown background paper. You can freehand the shape, find a clip art image to enlarge and trace, or choose another method of creation. Mount the tree cutout in the center of the bulletin board. Next, select six different colors - one for each section of the food pyramid - and, using various fall leaf templates, trace and cut leaf shapes to use to decorate the tree. Arrange the leaves on the tree in color groups then design a food group label {made from the same color paper} to place next to each grouping. Add various accents as desired/as space allows - exercise words like cardio, weight training, etc., pictures of athletes, exercise or food related cutouts, and/or anything else that goes with the theme.
