The Characteristics of a Soldier - Veterans Day Bulletin Board
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
As Veterans Day nears, if you're looking for a display that can be used as a decoration as well as a jumping off point for discussing the holiday - what it means and why we honor the courageous men and women who have served our country - we think this simple bulletin board idea is just the ticket!
The Characteristics of a Soldier
- Background: White bulletin board paper.
- Title: "The Characteristics of a Solider"
- Border: Patriotic themed bulletin board border.
- Decoration: 1) The Saluting Soldier Silhouette. Simply find a clip art image online, use your classroom projector system to enlarge the image, then trace the shape directly onto the background paper and fill it in with black paint. Of course, you could also trace the silhouette onto black bulletin board paper, cut it out, and attach it to the board... 2) The Star Qualities. Purchase pre-made accents or create star cutouts from red, white, and blue construction paper. [NOTE: Since the white stars will be added to a white background, you might consider using a marker or even glitter to define the edges of the stars.] Create a star for each characteristic, using a marker to pen the qualities onto the cutouts and arrange the stars around the bulletin board.
