Herald in the brilliance of spring {and teach your students a little about wind} with this fancy pinwheel craft from Larissa at mmmcrafts!

Supplies You'll Need

  • Patterned scrapbook or craft paper
  • Pinspinner templates
  • Craft detail scissors
  • Beads
  • Flower (or another shape of your choice) paper punch
  • Spray adhesive
  • Pencil with eraser
  • Needle and thread

Follow the link at mmmcrafts to download the various pinspinner templates and to find the craft tutorial at Allsorts, then use these colorful creations for various classroom needs! Craft Uses

  • Create a vibrant garland or bouquet of "spring flowers" to decorate the classroom. Larissa shows you how to skip the pencil and mount the pinspinners onto ribbons that can be hung on walls, around doorways, and on bulletin boards! And to make a bouquet, just stick the pinspinner {pencil and all} into a vase with some filler.
  • Use these fun crafts to teach your students about wind. Discuss terms relating to wind {i.e. breeze, gust, gale, etc.}, demonstrating how different wind strengths affect the pinspinner. First, have students turn the pinwheel by blowing on it, then graduate to a hair dryer with various speeds and/or a box fan.

We're sure you'll be able to figure out a great use for these fancy spring pinwheels!
