Election Unit - "Why I Should Be President..." Writing Center Craftivity
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
{Politics can be a touchy subject no matter where you go, but it's especially important to be careful what you say - and how you say it! - in a school setting. Sidestepping potentially 'hot' issues such as your personal political party affiliation and candidate selections, election season truly does offer a fabulous opportunity for discussing important concepts like patriotism, citizenship, as well as one of the many things that makes America great, the freedom to make our own choice!}

While Alexandra, first grade teacher and creator of The First Grade Sweet Life, originally used this activity as part of her President's Day lessons, we think this would work great as part of an Election/Government Unit too! Not only will your kiddos have a blast with the craft and the finished results make for a fabulous classroom decoration, we love that your preschoolers will be introduced to the concept of persuasive writing and the responses are sure to be fun to read! {While your or your students' parents may have to help with the writing, we think it would still make a great addition to your lesson plans!}
We encourage you to visit The First Grade Sweet life for this and lots of other great learning exercises!
