Easy Oil Pastel Art Project
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
If you're looking for a simple art project to complete with your kiddos, check out this oil pastel project that was featured over at The Moffatt Girls. The project can easily be tailored to fit any season, holiday, or topic! We love the cute bunny the Moffatt Girls chose for Spring!
Supplies You'll Need:
Provide each of your kiddos with a white piece of paper and have them draw a picture in pencil (the provided example shows a bunny with an outdoor background). You could have all of your students draw a similar picture, or you could let their imaginations take over. In the end, it's really all about the techniques!
After the drawings are complete, have your students use oil pastels to first outline over their drawing and then to color everything in. Don't worry about smearing or white spaces with the oil pastels - the watercolor paint will fix all of it in the next step!
For the final step, use watercolor paint to paint over the entire picture (make sure the watercolor paint color matches the oil pastels the students used). How cute is the result?!?
