Patriotic Baton for Memorial Day!
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
May 28th is Memorial Day and, to kick off your festivities, consider having your kiddos work on some patriotic crafts! Here's an adorable baton from the crafty designers over at Better Homes & Gardens!
Supplies You'll Need
- Recycled paper towel rolls
- White craft paint
- Red ribbon
- Transparent tape
- Blue and/or red art tissue paper, shredded, or crinkle cut paper
- Cardboard star cutout (5-inches)
- Silver craft paint
- Red and blue adhesive foam cutouts
While the original project calls for newspapers, we suggest creating the baton from a recycled paper towel roll! Simply paint it white and follow the rest of the directions over at BHG.com. Also note, if you have blue and red tissue paper and have access to a shredder, you can always make your own crinkle paper!
Use these batons to put on a classroom parade, as pointers during the week's lessons {great for pocket chart reading!}, or simply as a fun, hands-on way to introduce the holiday!
