Fall Vocabulary Word Clips
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
Erin of Creating & Teaching shared this fantastic activity that we thought could be made into a fun fall literacy center! Instead of bug words, simply compile a list of fall vocabulary words...
- Acorn
- Pumpkin
- Squirrel
- Pie
- Wheat
- Football
- Corn
- Leaf
- Haystack
- Hayride
- Cider
- Scarecrow
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving
- Et cetera
...script the words onto lined sentence strips, adding a clip art image to each strip, and providing students with alphabet clothespins to clip to the cards in order to reconstruct the vocabulary words. Students will build letter recognition and vocabulary as well as fine motor skills. [Extension: To provide more of a challenge, consider scripting the vocabulary words in all upper case letters on the sentence strips, then inviting students to match the appropriate lower case letter clothespin to the word card.]
