Drippy Monsters - Art Project for Kids
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
If you're looking for an art project idea to go over blending and the color wheel with your kiddos, check out Natalie's Drippy Monsters! Featured on her blog smART Class, the drip monsters provided a perfect opportunity for color blending by having students use straws to blow 3 different paint colors together to create the monster's arms and legs. They turned out fantastic!!
Drippy Monsters
Provide each student with a piece of white art paper and a straw. Pour a small amount of several colors of paint onto their paper and have them blow the paint with their straws to create a monster! Natalie's class used orange, yellow, blue and green paint (be sure to mix the tempera paint with a bit of water until it's easy to spread with the straws).
After the paint has had a chance to dry, have your students create faces with construction paper. Natalie required her students to create the eyes with an iris, pupil and light reflection. The result was super cute and gave the monsters an added touch of personality!
If time allows, students could also use construction paper to create a scene! Check out a few of the finished projects from Natalie's class:
