If there is one thing I learned from volunteering in a preschool class at church, it's that it is darn near impossible to get the kids excited to sing! Nine times out of ten the only voices carrying through the room were the teachers, and I certainly wasn't keeping anyone in tune. :) If you're looking for a simple way to boost the level of excitement during singing practice, check out this cute game featured by Linda over at Little Family Fun!

Getting the game ready to play is relatively simple. All you need is a file folder, tape and 16 paper circles (6 with shamrocks and 10 with smiley faces). Linda even describes how to make the circles here.

Once the circles are ready to go, place a small piece of tape on each one (on the same side as the smiley faces and shamrocks you created). Masking tape or blue painter's tape would probably be the easiest kind of tape to use.

With the tape in place, position the circles across both sides of the inside of your file folder, making sure to space out the shamrocks. Then numbers the circles in order, 1-16.

Next, make a list of the songs you want to practice with your kiddos. And then you are ready to play! Start out by singing the first song on your list. Then, have a child pick a number in the file folder to turn over. If the child picks a smiley face they get to practice the same song again!

If the child picks a shamrock, it's time to move on to the next song. Continue in this manner of singing and then turning over a number until you've finished practicing all the songs on your list. What a great way to add a little excitement to singing practice! I wish I had stumbled onto this little gem when I was teaching!!
