Reading Stamina Focus Sticks

Frances Vereen-Dunbar of Pride Academic Solutions recently sent us a fun solution for improving reading stamina. If your students are having difficulty reading for any prolonged period of time, these handy little tools remind students of desired/expected reading behaviors and are great for helping students reach reading stamina goals.

Here's what Frances had to say about the sticks...

I created these reading stamina focus sticks because my students only read for 56 seconds without getting distracted last week... I will use a poster with each icon on it to introduce and model each desired reading behavior, one each day, and then I will time the class looking for that specific behavior. By the end, we will be able to add all of the behaviors together!
