No time for a family vacation this year? Embark on your own virtual "Around the World" journey inspired by Michelle at Michelles Charm World! Through guidebooks, websites, travel books, and more, your kiddos will be able to visit all sorts of cool places of your choosing. Spend a week on safari in the Serengeti. Enjoy 'canoeing' the rivers and traipsing through the jungles of the Amazon. Study the Great Wall of China, Stonehenge, the Parthenon, the Pyramids, you name it!

To make the vacation feel real, create...

  • An itinerary
  • Passports and stamps
  • Tickets to/from your destinations
  • Luggage tags

As you "visit" each location think about...

  • Culture {food, clothing, homes, customs, religions, music/instruments, art, etc. of the native inhabitants}
  • Animals and plants found in the region
  • Famous landmarks
  • Terrain

...incorporating these elements into your research and learning. You also might consider a bit of pretend play. For instance, while visiting Paris, create a small cafe where your kiddos can pretend to eat beignets and drink "cafe" while watching the pedestrians on the busy thoroughfare. In Athens, "hike" to the Acropolis and use colored pencils {or another art medium} to sketch the Parthenon. And, as with any trip, don't forget the maps!

Incorporating an "Around the World" vacation will make this a summer your kiddos will never forget! Be sure to head on over to Michelles Charm World for more ideas and fun!
