President's Day Emergent Readers
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
Jo Kramer, creator of the site and resources on Making Learning Fun, has designed several emergent reader printables to help your preschoolers learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln on President's Day this Monday! Doubling as coloring pages, each booklet page provides fun and interesting facts about each of the former presidents - what number they were, where they grew up, the monuments that have been built in their honor, etc. As your students complete the pages, you might consider giving your students a virtual tour {through photos and videos} of the places they're reading about - the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Rushmore, George Washington's home in Mt. Vernon, and Abraham Lincoln's home in Kentucky. We found some great links for you to check out:
- Washington Monument National Monument (U.S. National Park Service)
- The Lincoln Memorial Interactive
- 360 Degree Panoramas: Mount Rushmore
- Mount Rushmore in 585 Photographs
- Mount Vernon Virtual Mansion Tour
- Lincoln Log Cabin
- Abraham Lincoln: Presidential Library and Museum
Happy Learning {and getting to know our country's history}!
