We found this adorable spring board at mrspicasso's art room, created by "Mrs. Picasso" aka Denise, Ohio art teacher and creator of the blog. The patterns are fantastic, the birds depict one of the tangible signs evidencing the arrival of spring, and the overarching theme lends itself to many motivational messages for your students as they reach 'the home stretch'.

Spring Bird Bulletin Board

Background: Bright blue bulletin board paper.
Title: Use one from above or a creation of your own.
Border: Colorful patterns trimmer or spring themed bulletin board border.
Decoration: 1) The Tree. Begin by drawing a tree shape directly onto the background paper {freehand it or use your classroom projector system to enlarge and trace the image}. Color the tree in using brown craft paint. You might also consider creating a tree cutout from brown bulletin board paper and mounting it to the board. From scrapbook or craft paper in various patterns and colors, cut large imperfect circles to place at the end of each branch as foliage. Cut several small circles, adding scrapbook paper leaves to create pieces of fruit to place in the 'leaves'. 2) The Birds. Find a bird template {like this one at CraftIdeas.info} using it to trace and cut bird shapes, wings, and beaks from patterned scrapbook or craft paper in various colors. Cut eyes from white and black card stock, assembling the birds {and papers} randomly for an eclectic spring look. Place these on and around the tree, using a marker to draw in the legs and feet.

We really love the concept of this board - the generalized/non-specific leaves, the mix and match bird patterns and colors, and the customizable message! It's sure to provide a brilliant spot of color in your classroom decor!
