Pining for the beach? Try out this simple, yet fun ocean themed puzzle created by Kaci at Little Piles Everywhere. Not only will it go great with a summer/beach unit, puzzles, in general, provide fantastic learning/skill development opportunities for your preschoolers. Along with cognitive skill development, specifically problem solving and visual discrimination, puzzles can also be instrumental in developing fine motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination!

For younger learners who may not have much experience with puzzles, print two copies of the puzzle, leaving one intact for them to use as a guide during assembly. Otherwise, print and enjoy! Once the puzzle has been assembled, consider having your kiddos use the completed picture as a writing prompt - describing what is happening in the picture, weaving a story that includes the objects in the picture, etc.

[NOTE: For extra fine motor practice, use the puzzle as a scissor skill worksheet!]

Be sure to head on over to Little Piles Everywhere for the download and for some other fantastic early childhood resources!
