Classroom Management for End of the Year Behavior with FREE Printables!

With the end of the school year inevitably comes Summer fever! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the weather outside is wonderful, beckoning students to come play - and getting them to remain in their seats all of a sudden becomes quite the challenge. You could have the best behaved students in the school, but with the end of the year quickly approaching they are bound to take a step or two backwards when it comes to behavior.
When you find yourself in this boat, don't fret! There are ways to add incentives for behaving and being good listeners at the end of the school year. We especially liked the money management idea featured by Rachelle over at What the Teacher Wants! It's a great way to provide your class with an incentive for behaving, while at the same time instilling a sense of responsibility (each student is responsibly for keeping track of their own 'bank').
Money Management
The concept here is relatively simple. Students earn money for being great listeners, following directions, helping a friend, etc. You can decide what will earn the students money and how much. On the opposite side, students can lose money if they fail to follow directions, are disruptive, etc. Again, you decide on the criteria that will work best for your class!
To get started, you only need a few supplies:
- Class money (coins or printed bills)
- Ziploc baggies (aka "banks")
- Labels
- Parent volunteer letter

Introduce your class to the money management system by explaining the money they earn can be used at a class store you will be having at the end of the year. Be sure to include a few examples of what will be offered at the store! It can be anything from face painting, fingernail painting, candy, toys, etc. The provided instructions give a thorough breakdown of ideas.
A few weeks before you plan to hold the school store, send the parent volunteer letter home with your kiddos. It's a great way to gets your parents involved in celebrating their child's success this school year! Be sure to send the letter home in time to have everything for the store prepared in time to celebrate.
