Groundhog Day Predictions!

Groundhog Day wouldn't be the same without a little prediction making! Invite your preschoolers to guess whether or not they think Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow; if spring is around the corner or if there will be six more weeks of winter. While they may not understand all of the ceremony, they're sure to enjoy the lively tradition of the holiday and will have fun seeing if their prediction comes true!

To help with data collection, be sure to print out these anchor chart headings and clip art images from First Grade Hip Hip Hooray. Mount the headings onto easel paper or poster board, then invite your students to cast their vote - selecting one of the printed clip art images and placing it under the correct heading. When each student has had a chance to make a prediction, tally up the results and settle back to watch what actually happens!
