Veterans Day Organizer and Simple Sentence Writing Printables

After introducing the various branches of our Armed Forces and exploring the significance of the holiday honoring veterans, brainstorm with your kiddos common characteristics shared by the men and women who serve, and have served, in the military. Not only is this a great way to build vocabulary – reviewing/learning new words and what they mean – it also offers a fabulous opportunity for your kinders to see the full picture of what a true hero looks like!

Once finished with your diagram, have students use what you've discovered about veterans and write simple sentences. For example,

  • Veterans are brave.
  • Veterans are patriotic.
  • Veterans are team players.
  • Veterans are loyal.
  • Etcetera

Here's a simple organizer and writing worksheet (both pictured above) that you can use for the lesson!
