Winter Fun with Snowmen & The Mitten!

By Jessica • April 3, 2018

Nothing screams winter like snowmen and mittens! We were drawn to these colorful activites that we found over at Under the Alphabet Tree and hope they inspire you as well!

All About Snowmen

Mrs. G and her kiddos spent some time reading up on snowmen, then watched the animated adventure, "The Snowman", following the story of a young boy who makes a snowman one Christmas Eve, only for it to come to life that night and take him on a magical adventure to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus!

Afterward, they used a tree map to organize their learning, crafted their own snowmen, and wrote descriptive sentences about their snowmen!

The Mitten

Winter wouldn't be complete without reading Jan Brett's popular children's story, The Mitten. Not to mention, you can find some great free printables to use with the story!

Mrs. G and her kiddos used these printables to practice sequencing and retelling the story, then she had them write and draw about another animal they would add to the story if they could!
