What better way to finish off the year than with a bulletin board that showcases your students' growth throughout the school year! Designed by teaching team Maria Mallon and Cheryl Dillard of Mall-ard's First Grade "Hog Heaven", this book shaped board features their students' progress as writers of different genres, as well as the confidence they've gained in their skills and the solid foundation that will carry them through their scholastic career. A fantastic idea and an adorable design!

"Turning the Page..." Bulletin Board

  • Background: Freehand or enlarge and trace the shape of an open book onto black bulletin board paper. The book should be the size of the board. Add a second, slightly smaller, book shape created from white bulletin board paper to the board, using a black marker to create the illusion of pages. To create a three-dimensional look {i.e. a page being turned}, add a third book shape made from white bulletin board paper, making sure to fit it to the previously drawn pages.
  • Title: "Turning the Page to a New Chapter!"
  • Border: None needed.
  • Decoration: Pull samples of your kiddos work - one from the beginning of the year and one from the end of the year. Mount them side by side on a piece of construction paper, add the student's picture, and arrange them on the book board. Your students will be thrilled to "step back in time" and will love seeing how they've grown throughout the year!

Thanks for stopping by! We'd love to hear your thoughts on this bulletin board and how you might transform it to display other subjects, topics, skills learned, etc. - so be sure to leave us a comment below!
