Memorial Day - The Wall
By Kayla • April 3, 2018
Eve Bunting's The Wall is an excellent book to share with your kinders this Memorial Day. Poignant and meaningful, the story depicts the Vietnam Memorial as seen through the eyes of a child. Gary Hopkins, featured lesson plan contributor over at Education World, offers some great follow-up questions and activities to help your students get the most out of the story.
As an extension, you might consider...
- Having students make cards or write letters to veterans in your community.
- Inviting your kinders to write letters to our troops {as well as the military families in your community!} thanking them for their service.
With these meaningful lessons, we know your kinders will have a better understanding of what Memorial Day is all about. Be sure to visit Education World for the full activity list!
