Johnny Appleseed Reading Activity

Johnny Appleseed Day is celebrated September 26th and we found some fun activities over at The Inspired Apple to get in the spirit of the day. The first, a group reading activity, is based on Steven Kellogg's children's book, Johnny Appleseed. Along with beautiful illustrations, the story of John Chapman and his infamous travels unfolds in a mix of history and legend, offering a great opportunity for classroom discussion...
And check out this fun graphic organizer Abby created to go along with the book! On the large apple she printed the main idea - the life of John Chapman - and on the {adorable hand-drawn!} Johnny Appleseed character she worked with her students to print the details of the story.
