Here's another fun activity and display from Molly, fourth grade teacher and creator of Lessons with Laughter! In the same vein as her spring circle tree, this display provides an opportunity for her students to demonstrate/apply their learning as well as personalize the classroom a bit!

Area & Perimeter Robots

Providing her kiddos with grid paper and size specifications, Molly tasked her students with the job of designing a robot to meet the specifications called for! This activity not only encourages problem solving and critical thinking skills, but it also is a phenomenal way to assess your students' grasp of the concepts! And, since students get a bit of creative license when decorating their robots, it's also a great way to engage their imagination!

Background: Solid green background paper. You might also consider a fun lightly patterned gift wrap or fabric!
Title: "Area & Perimeter Robots!". Nothing like calling it what it is! Of course, if you can think of a fun/witty title, that would work too!
Border: Complimentary solid color/patterned border or robots themed trimmer.
Decoration: Use your kiddos' robot projects! Perhaps, you might consider creating small gear cutouts and use them to label the projects with each student's name.
