Dr. Seuss Window Display

Dr. Seuss Read Across America Preschool and Kindergarten Bulletin Board Idea

Isn't it interesting how two displays with the same theme and quote can look so different? We posted a board yesterday that featured this fabulous Dr. Seuss quote on a cake shaped like the Cat's hat {a fun idea for celebrating Seuss' birthday!}. Today's board from Melanie over at A Little Bit of Melanie... uses the same quote, but with a more traditional approach. The quote is dominant while the Seuss themed characters are used as accents. We love having different options to choose from!

[NOTE: This display was created for a window, but you can certainly tailor it to fit a bulletin board, wall, or even door display!]

Dr. Seuss Quote Display

  • Background: Black bulletin board paper.
  • Title: Use the Dr. Seuss quote,

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You!”

We love how the original creator used a combination of plain white and striped letters to set various words apart. It really makes the quote pop! We have a feeling the words word created using word processing software or perhaps cut out using a personal cutting machine and a fun free Dr. Seuss font. You could purchase Dr. Seuss themed letters, but you might lose some of the design fun...
  • Border: Dr. Seuss themed trimmer or patterned border in complimentary colors.
  • Decoration: 1) The Cat's Hat. Find a black and white clip art image of the Cat's hat, using your classroom projector system to enlarge and trace the image onto white bulletin board paper. For a bold, solid color, paint the stripes with red craft paint and (when dry!) use a black permanent marker to outline the shape and add detailing. 2) The Seuss Inspired Flower. We love how the original designer created flowers inspired by the quirky world of Seuss. We suggest freehanding simple flowers onto white bulletin board paper then using vibrant paints to create stripes, etc. Once again, outline and add detailing with a black permanent marker. 3) The Book Accents. Print colorful pictures of your favorite Seuss characters, using a circle template to cut them out, and add them around the bulletin board. You might also consider displaying book jackets/covers for some extra visual interest.
