Zoo Animal & Sight Word Emergent Reader
This adorable emergent reader created by Deanna Jump, kindergarten teacher and creator of the blog, Mrs. Jump's Class, would be the perfect compliment to any animal or zoo unit. Each {coloring!} page features a different zoo animal, describes one of their special characteristics, and offers your child(ren) or students a chance to practice using the popular sight word, "has".
Emergent Reader Considerations
- Once completed, separate the page images from the text, inviting your students to use the pieces to play a matching game.
- Add a second page to each booklet entry, providing a space for students to draw their own rendition of each animal as well as a space for them to cut out pictures {from postcards, old National Geographic magazines, etc.} of the animal.
