If you're planning a community helpers or policeman unit, consider using these fun activities from Jolanthe at Homeschool Creations. Originally, designed as a lapbook - a file folder of activities - you can keep the same format or separate the activities into individual learning stations. Either way, your preschoolers are sure to have a blast learning about these helpful members of the community! Here are two of our favorite activities:

  • Fingerprint Counting. In this activity, students will practice identifying numerals in order to create the correct number of fingerprints the police detective found at each scene.
  • Road Signs & Shapes. With this practical shape application, students are presented with pictures of common road signs and must discern the basic shape it favors. For example, the "Yield" sign is shaped like a triangle, etc.

There are plenty of other exercises that will have your students practicing scissor skills, pre-writing skills, letter recognition, color recognition, matching, and much more! Be sure to head over to Homeschool Creations for this fantastic download {and for directions on putting these printables in lapbook format}!
