Deb Chitwood, featured contributor at PreK+K Sharing, offers several great math activities that would fit perfectly into your Dr. Seuss lesson plans! Whether your students simply need addition practice or are ready for an introduction to simple addition, we know these activities will be a hit {especially if you pair the exercises with some goldfish crackers!}. Not to mention, Deb featured activities that come with free printables! Goldfish Counting

Designed by Victoria Saley of obSEUSSed, the interactive placemat invites your kiddos to identify the numeral on each fishbowl and count out the appropriate number of goldfish crackers into them. To add a fine motor component, Deb suggests placing the crackers in a bowl and having students move them with a pair of tweezers!

Goldfish Addition

For a more challenging activity, Deb recommends the fish addition cards from Ms. Allen over at Dual Kinder Teacher. The activity is great for numeral recognition, counting, and of course, simple addition! If this is your preschoolers first experience with addition, the goldfish cracker manipulatives are super helpful for visualizing the problem!

While we brushed over the activities here, we wanted to mention that we really like the way Deb set up each center. Be sure to head on over to Prek+K Sharing for the worksheet links as well as set-up ideas!
