A Hand For Our Veterans! - Veterans Day Bulletin Board Idea

Patriotic Veterans Day Bulletin Board Idea

Here's another simple bulletin board that would make a great tribute to the men and women in your community that have served in our Armed Forces as well as create a fun crafting opportunity for your kiddos and provide some festive decor for your classroom! If you have 'Hero Parade' this would make a fabulous hallway decoration, but it (of course!) would also work perfectly in the classroom.

Hand Print Craft

For younger children, we suggest simply inviting them to create a red, white, and blue hand print on white or light gray paper. [NOTE: With the light gray paper, you'll have a better chance of getting the white hand prints to show up!] Once dry, cut around the prints and add each student's name to their creations.

For older children, create mini hand print cards - i.e. fold a piece of construction paper in half, have students use paint to create hand prints on the front, then when dry, cut around the print being sure not to cut along the folded side. Inside the hand print cards, invite students to complete the following prompt, "Thank you veterans for...", and have them print their name on the front cover (over the hand print).

A Hand For Our Veterans!

  • Background: None needed if creating a hallway display. Use white background paper if decorating a bulletin board in your classroom.
  • Title: "A Hand For Our Veterans! THANK YOU!"
  • Border: None needed if creating a hallway display. Use a patriotic themed trimmer or red and blue streamers twisted together if decorating a bulletin board in your classroom.
  • Decoration: Use your students' hand print crafts/cards to create an American flag! Add small star accents cut from white card stock to the blue hand prints if desired.
