Kathleen over at Growing Kinders was gracious enough to share her lesson plan for Groundhog Day - and it looks like her kinder kids had a blast! From making predictions and graphing to class books and songs there's something for everyone. Our favorite part? The graphing opportunities!

You'll have to visit Growing Kinders for pictures and details, but here's a sneak peek at all of the graphing fun!

  • Will Phil See His Shadow? A traditional Groundhog Day activity, students predicted whether an early spring should be expected or if they were going to experience six more weeks of winter - graphing their predictions and comparing them to the actual results.
  • Do You Like Warm or Cold Weather Best? Kathleen's kinders decided which type of weather they preferred - warm or cold - and tallied the results.
  • Groundhogs Wistle, Can You? After learning that groundhogs whistle when in danger, students determined whether or not they could whistle, added their data to the graph, and analyzed the results.

Aren't these fun?! They all tie in with the theme of the day while also providing your kinders with graphing practice!
