How awesome is this back-to-school activity from Eating Abroad?! We love how it works to promote community, invites your kiddos to think about the various traits/behaviors they need to cultivate for success in the classroom, and offers a chance for students to get out of their seats for a hands on experience!

First, put together a list, or 'recipe' if you will, of the attributes necessary for success in the classroom - e.g. effort, teamwork, fairness, etc. Count the total number of traits and assign a different trail-mix component/ingredient to each one. To start the activity, discuss the importance of each trait/behavior and demonstrate how to mix the various ingredients together to create packet of "success". Finally, invite your students to create packets of their own packets to share with their families!

What a fun activity - and surprise snack! - for the first day of school! Be sure to visit Eating Abroad for the activity specifics and for some more great back-to-school ideas!
