100th Day Fiesta - A Day of Celebration
If you're looking for an enjoyable way to spend the 100th day with your kiddos, check out the cute ideas Greg featured over at The Kindergarten Smorgasboard. From a cute 100th day craft, to a delightful 100th day snack, his ideas have your day covered!
100th Day Hat Craft
To complete the colorful hats, each student will need ten strips of assorted color construction paper, each broken down into 10 squares, and an 11th piece to use as the base of the hat. Have students rotate between stations, gluing ten items to each strip of paper. Here's your chance to be creative! You could use anything from foam shapes to stickers to small pom poms!
Once your students have visited each station and completed their 10 strips, have them glue the strips on to the hat base and allow them to dry. If you don't have time for drying, help them to staple the strips on. Then staple the base together for a colorful hat the students can wear for the entire 100th day fiesta!
100th Day with 100 Words
Gather students together to help you come up with 100 words! Divide the list into 10 parts, 10 words for each part. In Greg's class they came up with: 10 items of clothing, 10 movies, 10 television shows, 10 sight words, 10 numbers, 10 people, 10 places, 10 books, 10 cars and 10 school supplies. Impressive!! You could also come up with different categories, such as 10 pets or 10 snacks, anything you think your students would find exciting. Once you've completed your lists, hang them on your classroom walls or down the hall to create a colorful display.
100th Day Snacking
You can even use snack time to carry on with your 100th day fiesta! Provide each student with a piece of paper divided into 10 sections (mark each section with a number, counting in 10's from 10 to 100). Then have students place 10 of each different kind of snack in each section (you could use pretzels, gold fish, gummy bears, popcorn, etc.). Next step, enjoy! Yum!!
