The Foot Book
The Foot Book is a Seuss classic and a great book to include in your Read Across America/Seuss birthday lessons! We found several great activities, games, and worksheets around the blogosphere that would make Seuss-tastic additions to your plans...
The Foot Book Printable Unit. We found this great printable unit over at Homeschool Share! With math, science, and language arts applications, as well as 3 printable activities, we know you'll find something for your kiddos to enjoy!
Feet Matching & Patterning. Clemencia over at Storytime and More featured these great Seuss-themed math worksheets and provides a FREE download!
Adjectives: Describing Feet. This Seuss-tabular FREE worksheet comes from Kelley over at Buggy for Second Grade! Work as a class to create a list of describing words for feet {we're envisioning an adorable foot shaped anchor chart!}, then have them select their favorites to record on Kelley's adorable graphic organizer.
Animal Feet Matching. We found this fun file folder game - including the link to the FREE printables - over at Creative and Curious Kids. Jen and her kiddos build visual discrimination and observation skills as they attempted to match the feet cards to the correct animal!
Measuring with Feet. Amber over at A Teaching Mommy created these FREE math worksheets to help her kiddos practice measuring with non-standard units - feet! We love that students record their answers by coloring in the appropriate number of feet on the worksheet.
Working with Opposites. Introduce your students to the world of opposites with this cute activity created by Miss. Delk over at The Adventures of Miss Elizabeth!
Left and Right Foot Sorting. Students are sure to have fun as they build visual discrimination skills, sorting the picture cards into the appropriate column - left foot or right foot.
Gross Motor Movement: The Foot Hop. Help your students get their wiggles out and develop gross motor skills with this fun game created by Lorie over at Reading Confetti! Simply place colorful construction paper foot cutouts around the floor and invite your kiddos to jump from foot to foot, trying not to touch the space in between.
Cutesy Foot Craft. Spice up craft time with this fun foot craft from Jill over at Meet the Dubiens. Your kiddos will love getting to paint with their feet and the finished product is sure to become an instant keepsake when sent home!
We hope these lesson ideas and activities are helpful as you plan your Seuss unit!
