While the first week of April has passed, we thought this fabulous poetry calendar created by the fabulous librarians of the Princeton Public Library would be a great addition to your inspiration folder for next year. The creators chose 30 of their favorite poems, one for each day of the month, and revealed a different poem each day.

Poetry Month Calendar

  • Background: Light colored bulletin board paper.
  • Title: "Celebrating National Poetry Month!"
  • Border: Complimentary solid color trimmer or colorful patterned border.
  • Decoration:Use border or crepe streamers to create a calendar grid on the board, labeling the squares with numbers, one through thirty. After brainstorming a list of your favorite poems, use word processing software to print the poems onto card stock and put them on the calendar, one for each day. Cover the poems with colorful card stock or construction paper, rolling the paper back to reveal the poem underneath at the beginning of each day. For fun, add themed cutouts to go with each poem {see the example below} and some colorful spring flowers.
