Cut two large tree shapes - complete with trunk and branches - from brown bulletin board paper. If you plan to freehand the shape, you can always cut out one tree shape and use it to trace and cut a second tree shape! If you find a clip art image that you like, simply use your classroom projector system to enlarge and trace the image twice. Arrange the trees on either side of the board. Cut a strip of green bulletin board paper, using scissors to create the look of 'grass' along the top edge, and mount the strip to the bottom of the board between the trees. 2) The Carrots. Those have been around for quite awhile and children seem to always have a blast playing in the sand and burying and digging up a variety of objects. Sand and water tables can get a little bit messy at times, but with a little supervision it’s usually not too bad.\n\nWhat most people don’t think of for whatever reason is replacing the sand with other substances like dried pasta or cornmeal. By using other substances besides just sand, children can get a feel for a variety of different textures. It’s a great way to introduce new concepts to children. Also, by using things like dried pasta you can eliminate some of the mess, which is always a good thing! So next time you are out of sand or you just want to do something a little bit different grab some cornmeal, dried pasta, or whatever else you can think of. In order to encourage parents to making reading an essential part of their child's routine, Mem Fox, an award-winning children's author, has developed the \"Ten Read-Aloud Commandments\".\u003cbr\u003e\n\nIn addition to making it an intentional part of your child's daily routine, Mem suggests the following guidelines: spending at least ten minutes doing the activity or reading at least three stories, whichever is shortest.
