Let's Play A Game! - Board Game Inspired Display

Game Board Inspired Bulletin Board IdeaKristin Heim recently submitted this bulletin board that she created to remind parents why family game nights rock! Not only do they provide great bonding opportunities and a way to get involved in their kiddos' lives, games also reinforce important concepts like...

  • Good sportsmanship
  • Respect for rules
  • Financial responsibility - i.e. a new board game costs $5-$25 and can be used over and over again, whereas taking the family to a movie can cost much more and is only good for several hours of entertainment, etc.
  • Valuable life lessons/skills - i.e. negotiating, money management, how to respond when things don't go your way, etc.
  • Educational development - i.e. one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, vocabulary, etc.

Here are a few close-ups of the informational game spaces...

Let's Play A Game!

  • Background: Yellow bulletin board paper.
  • Title: "Let's Play A Game!"
  • Border: Complimentary patterned bulletin board border.
  • Decoration: Design and draw a game board directly on the background paper, using markers to color in the spaces and a black permanent marker to outline the spaces/board. [NOTE: If you didn't want to color the entire board, you might consider using sticky notes in assorted colors. Simply glue the sticky notes to the board in the desired pattern/path and use a black permanent marker to create the outline.] Add the desired text (i.e. the reasons why family game nights rock and perhaps some game lingo - 'Lose a turn', 'Have a family game night. Move ahead 5 spaces', etc. - and finish off the design by adding real game pieces from various games!
