Does Music Help You Study?
With the ability to access your favorite music almost everywhere, have you ever wondered if taking advantage of this and listening to your iPod while studying at the library or having Pandora open and playing in the background while finishing up your homework assignments at home helps or hinders you? Sheela over at Mind the Science Gap featured a great study from the University of Wales that explores this very topic. For middle school students interested in cognitive science, this could be a great project to explore!
In her article, Sheela describes how participants in the study were tested to determine how background music affects performance and whether the results were difference based on preference.
For tips on designing your own test, be sure to read the full article at Mind the Science Gap!
